green scream For a few days now, I've been having this picture as a desktop background on my computer at work. It's been part of my Flickr Favorites pictures since the beginning, but since I almost never use Flickr anymore, it had been forgotten till now. I love this shot. Plus, it perfectly fits as a wallpaper, with empty spaces on the left hand for you to put some desktop icons.

I love this shot. I had to share this :)

I searched in the options. I searched the internet for hacks. And as far as I can tell, I'm not the only one.

Doh. The damn setting is just hidden at the bottom of the GMail screen. What a silly location for a setting everybody is looking for.
NO MORE POPUP HURRRRAH

Great. I can even invite myself to chat with me.For the first time, I find GMail quite annoying with something : those freaking Chat popups. I want to send and read mail damnit, I don't want to talk.

Did I miss something ? I cannot find any option to disable those damn popups. For the moment, the only workaround I found is this simple Greasemonkey script. Now I just have to find something for IE too.

My plugin Admin Drop Down Menu just grew older : it's now version 1.3
This upgrade is aimed only at people using WordPress blogs hosted on Windows servers, where plugins in subfolders would appear in a path using a backslash (ie akismet\akismet.php instead of akismet/akismet.php) which was causing some unexpected problems.

In a word : if you have the plugin and it works, skip this. If you have the plugin and it breaks, upgrade. And if you don't have the plugin… Man, what the hell are you waiting for ? It's listed as a Must Have Plugin on NewsForge ! It'll change your life ! Satisfied or your money back ! Go get it !

miniBlog miniBlog is a WordPress port of a very nice template named miniBLOG. I thought it was nice enough to deserve something like WordPress, so here it is, with a few useful admin functions as well. Simple, elegant, light, CSS based and valid XHTML 1.1 transylvannial.

miniBlog. You're already in love.

Scuttle (PHP open-source clone of del.icio.us) is now available as version 0.6.0. Related link of interest : the Scuttle Wiki. (0) «

I'm dying of laughter. While randomly browsing on del.icio.us mp3's, I got myself lost in the mashup collection and stumbled upon this oddity : Sepultura vs Pavarotti : Roots Bloody Roots. This. Is. Just. Hilarious. Well at least if you like the Sepultura kind a bit :)

And while you're downloading the mp3, go read this story about a new frightening scam. This is hilascaryous !

An often overlooked feature of Google's Adsense is that you can set up a list of advertisers you don't want to appear on your sites (the Competitive Ad Filter List)

Filtering competitors, if you have any, is probably a good idea. You don't want someone on your site clicking on a ad that leads them to a competitor's, unless you're very positively sure you're better than them :)

Filtering what seems to be low paying advertisers and cheap keywords is probably a bad idea. Google is supposed to serve the best ad, so if it shows something more or less irrelevant about some free web-based RSS reader, well, it may just be that or a Public Service Ad. Blame your content, not Google :)

And it's probably a good idea to filter yourself out. While surfing on whois.sc I noticed that they were serving ads about… whois.sc. Not only they're potentially being charged for someone already knowing their site and clicking on it, but they're also preventing them from displaying another potentially better performing ad. To be honest, I think not displaying your own ads should even be an Adsense built-in feature.

Note to self : remember to make sure something like these anti-spam and security checks are implemented when coding stuff like PHP contact forms. (via Gray’s) (0) «
