My connection at work being an awfully capped 56kb line or something like this, I've recently decided to finally use a Feed Reader, so I can read something without having to wait for a 12 kb gif image to download. By the way, my choice by now goes to Feed Reader, didn't try a lot of softwares but this one had what I wanted, and didn't have what I did not need.

So, the first feed I subscribed to was … my own, and I realized that it… sucks. My bilingual posts are a total mess since, obviously, both languages appear. Well. It will be quite easy to code a little plugin segregating languages into 4 different feeds (english only, français only, french and english if not available, and english with french if not available) to give readers more choice. It's just a matter of spare time I'll have in the next days, or a matter of how many readers ask for decent feeds. But do I have any feed reader ? :-Þ

I made a new WordPress plugin, named Avatar Popup.
In a few words : type …

 1. Hello ! My name is Ozh. My buddy [gravatar:dju@coolemail.net]dju`[/gravatar] has a cool gravatar !

… this will generate :

Hello ! My name is OzhOzh. My buddy dju`dju` has a cool gravatar !

Ain't this cool ? And email addresses are encrypted ! As usual when I start thinking about a simple plugin, it has ended up with a lot of features, to add gravatar or images you chose, to mailto links, to any word, without remembering an email address. Everything is detailed on the plugin page : Avatar Popup !

Microsoft rocks. The IE Blog has a few details on the upcoming version of MSIE, aka IE7 : it will support transparent PNG's. A bit as if a car company announced "Good news ! Our next car will have wheels !"

Everybody knows that Google knows, is, the truth. What Google tells you cannot be infirmed. Everybody agrees, fine. We can go on.

I came across Sunfox's blog who has en entry about a new Google feature : now, Google's definitions are localized and, when available, you can look for definitions of a word in the language of your choice. Try for example define:xy.

This reminded me of the Google definitions experiment I made last year, and completely forgot since. So, I checked define:Ozh. And drooled over the result :-)

Remember : Google knows the Truth.

Astronomy Pic of the Day (APOD) You’d swear this one is an image created from scratch in some graphic tool… but it’s just a picture from space. (0) «
Google Search History: fun, but what can it be used for ? (0) «

My goal for the next days : get a Flickr Pro account.
Woohoo. I was precisely writing this when I wanted to check the Flickr Pro URL, and noticed a new message in my account : wuzzat ? somebody gave me a Pro account ! Should I believe in telepathy ?

Thank you Hockadilly ! Now, with 2 gigs of uploads per month and unlimited storage, I could do a bit more than just testing and tooling around with it. What, I don't know yet, but I could do something :)

There is an ongoing contest held by Weblog Tools Collection : rewarded with real prizes, it is about creating new WordPress Plugins. Sadly and surprisingly enough, although the WP community is very prolific and creates new plugins almost every day, this contest doesn't seem to be given a lot of interest. Free time permitting, I'll try to toss one or two plugins in this contest (I have dozens of plugin ideas or even plugins in pre-alpha states, and a proportionnal lack of spare time :)

In order to give this contest the exposure it deserves, Mark started a WordPress Plugin meme (meme : self-propagating unit of cultural evolution (read more at Wikipedia))

I think it is a good idea to share with others the appreciation you may have for plugins you like (even when some of the plugins I'm using were actually written by me), so here is my contribution to the meme : What plugins do you use on your blog and how do you rate them?
