Now that's interesting, a simple CSS file to hide ads and banners. Of course, requires a bit of CSS3 support (selectors) and the ability of using a custom CSS that applies to every site. In other words, requires Firefox.
Skinning Gmail with a Custom Stylesheet: modify Gmail's look & feel with a custom .css and scheme you like. This is a nice example of per-domain stylesheet ability of Mozilla and Firefox.
