Hot from the press: I got 4th spot (also known as “Consolation Prize”:) at the WordPress Plugin Competition, with my (uberleet) plugin Who Sees Ads (also known as “The Ultimate Ad Management Plugin”).

I’m pretty happy about it, especially given how my plugin is not geared toward the majority of WP users: most are not running ads, or are not interested enough in online advertising to grasp the benefit of not always displaying ads.

I’m pretty happy about it because winning something is very rewarding. Writing plugins is a hobby, I do it for the fun and as a way to share something I like doing (coding). Whenever someone rewards me, be it with a small donation or with a nice competition prize, it feels extremely pleasant and warm in the inside.

And I’m very happy about this prize because it might bring home something I completely dig: a poster from Wallhogs. I say might because Wallhog is a website & company I’ve been watching since they launched, desperately waiting for their… shipping to Europe damnit!! Let’s hope for this very special occasion an overseas deal will be possible :)

As for my plugin Who Sees Ads, it’s been updated to 1.01: a minor yet annoying bug would prevent cookies from being properly written under PHP 4.x, so get the new version if that’s your case. Thanks a lot to Andrew for his noticing about this.

Congratulations. This is one of the few really interesting and extremely useful WordPress plugins I’ve seen for quite a while. Cheers.

Congrats on winning, although this plugin is useless to me.

I realize you may have declined the Pajama Mommy prize, but wouldn’t it still make sense to mention them for donating the prize?

Amy » Indeed, I did so, because I don’t need any hosting (and to be honest it seemed a bit useless to me to offer hosting to people who, basically, obviously already have)
