{"id":295,"date":"2005-06-07T11:19:17","date_gmt":"2005-06-07T10:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/frenchfragfactory.net\/ozh\/archives\/2005\/06\/07\/windows-as-a-recovery-tool-for-linux\/"},"modified":"2005-06-07T11:19:17","modified_gmt":"2005-06-07T10:19:17","slug":"windows-as-a-recovery-tool-for-linux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planetozh.com\/blog\/2005\/06\/windows-as-a-recovery-tool-for-linux\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows as a Recovery Tool for Linux"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sequel of my unfortunate Adventures in Linuxland (see my previous post about <a href=\"\/blog\/archives\/2005\/06\/06\/from-linux-to-windows\/\">switching from Linux to Windows<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>While I was completely unable to do anything with my Linux installation (LILO failing to start and the bootable rescue CD couldn&#39;t repair the boot sector) I booted on Windows which was installed on another hard drive and then, using a neat software called <a href=\"http:\/\/uranus.it.swin.edu.au\/~jn\/linux\/explore2fs.htm\">Explore2fs<\/a> (WIN32 explorer for Linux ext2fs partitions) I eventually managed to copy my <em>\/home<\/em> directory to another (Windows) disk. Thank God, I did not lose my data (a few useless divx, some cool bash scripts, local mirrors of my websites and thousands of more than precious photos)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lost my Linux data.
