A bit of my personal life, mainly focused on my kids. A bit of code, mainly focused on Wordpress and PHP. Overall, bits of nothing in particular.

Hmmmm. Which of your plugins are having "issues" with 2.5? I couldn't run my site without "Who Sees Ads", so if that's going to be an issue, I'll wait to update.

<b>bananaranha » sue them, this is scandalous.</b>

Well, if *you* find it scandalous, perhaps you have to sue.

I, for one, don't care that much. I'll get it when it's done.

I've only tried to explain why complaining about a late release is not analogous to wanting a rushed incomplete release out of the door. Which is the point the post here made.

<b> WordPress 2.5, initially due today, has been delayed by a week. There a number of people complaining about this, and I really don’t get why. I am personally much happier with a more stable release than with something that ships with bugs because someone pushed the “Go gold!” button too fast.</b>

The issue of stability is orthogonal to our complaining.

Or, to put it differently, we are not sad because a premature 2.5 wasn't released on March 10.

We are sad because a STABLE 2.5 wasn't released on March 10.

So, there you have it.

Waiting is no problem for me either. It builds excitement. Plus I'm swamped with work, so it's nice to be able to catch up. It's like they know I can't keep my hands off upgrades and put work first.

Official release date? I wouldn't read too much into that. As I wrote else where, it will be released when it is ready. There was a related thread on wp-testers, "Is the Full Beta Out?"

It think we missed an opportunity to communicate missing the scheduled release date. Unfortunately, I don't know how close we are -- Matt or Ryan could speak best to that, but I do expect at least one more beta (a real public beta).

Mozilla says it well:
“The first and most important thing to state is that we, as a project, are quality driven, not date driven. We use dates to set targets for milestones, and we strive to put out the best milestones possible, but due to the changing nature of the web, we always judge each milestone against our basic criteria of quality, performance and usability. The other factor how we rely on community use and testing of our betas to help us judge their quality.

Yeah, I've no complaints on the delay, if it means a better product in the long-run. Besides, WordPress is still free, so it's all gravy so far as I'm concerned.

Y'think that the people who complain the most have almost no clue about what it takes to write code, let alone bug-free code?
